Estimate materials and costs for your construction projects with 6 specialized calculators. Perfect for contractors, builders, and DIY enthusiasts.
Calculate the amount of concrete needed for slabs, footings, columns, and other structures.
Calculate Now →Determine how much paint you need for walls, ceilings, and trim based on room dimensions.
Calculate Now →Calculate flooring materials needed for hardwood, tile, laminate, or carpet installations.
Calculate Now →Estimate roofing materials including shingles, underlayment, and accessories for your roof project.
Calculate Now →Calculate fence materials including posts, rails, pickets, and concrete for your fencing project.
Calculate Now →Design stairs with proper rise, run, and dimensions that meet building codes and safety standards.
Calculate Now →Over-ordering materials wastes money. Under-ordering causes project delays and mismatched batches. Our construction calculators use actual building formulas to give you precise material estimates with recommended waste allowances built in.
Standard 10% waste applies to straight-run flooring and simple concrete pours. Diagonal flooring patterns need 15% extra. Tile in irregular rooms may need 20%. Always buy from the same production batch to avoid color variation in future patch work.

Concrete volume = Length × Width × Depth (all in feet, then divide by 27 to convert cubic feet to cubic yards). Add 10% for waste. For a 10×10 ft patio at 4 inches depth: 10 × 10 × (4/12) = 33.3 cubic feet ÷ 27 = 1.23 cubic yards. Our concrete calculator handles slabs, footings, columns, and tube forms automatically.
Calculate the wall area: (2 × room length + 2 × room width) × ceiling height, then subtract 21 sq ft per door and 15 sq ft per window. One gallon covers approximately 400 square feet with one coat; plan for two coats. Our paint calculator also accounts for primer coat, trim, and ceiling as separate estimates.
Measure the room square footage, then add 10% for waste (15% for diagonal patterns). Some flooring types (tile, hardwood) require more waste percentage due to cutting. Our flooring calculator provides room-by-room calculations and even accounts for the specific waste factor of your chosen material type.
Most municipalities require permits for fences over 4 feet in front yards and 6-8 feet in back yards. HOA communities may have additional restrictions. Always check with your local building department before construction — violations can result in fines or forced removal. Our fence calculator estimates materials, posts, and concrete for footings.
